Board Meeting

Board Members Present- Kristy Mount, Paula Santa, Rita Woeste, Susan Kaczmarek, Dave Hayden,

Aly DeAngelo, Brian Tomlinson, Students

Student Report - The students received a $1000 student learning grant for the NYC trip.

-Bernie Savarese gave a talk on April 14th about his experience in the Stadium Scholarship Program.

-Extra unused food from a recent SSP event will be donated to a local food pantry.

-Due to the number of students who will be out of town Mother’s Day Weekend, Escapade will be moved to May 15th. As a result the event will need to be moved to a new location. The students are considering the Urban Arts Center located in downtown Columbus. The students would then rent OSU cabs to transport students to and from the event.

-The students are planning an Earth Day event on April 21st. The students will plant sunflowers in recycled water bottles.

-Student Alumni Council- Eric Moyer, member of the student alumni council, announced that SAC is holding a ticket raffle. SAC is raffling two season tickets for next season. The seats are located in section AA behind the players’ bench. Raffle tickets are $10 each. Deadline to buy tickets is May 6th and the raffle will take place on May 20th. -NYC Trip- Fifty students will leave on Friday, May 28th and will arrive in NYC Saturday morning. The students will stay in a youth hostile. While in NYC, the students will have the option attending the Yankees vs. Indians game or seeing a Broadway play. The students will participate in a community service project, possibly at a soup kitchen. The students will return to Columbus on May 30th.

President’s Report- presented by Kristy Mount

- The newsletters have gone out with the football flyer.

-The ticket priority policy was featured in the newsletter

-We only have 70 dues paying members. We need to find ways to increase membership.

Scholarship Committee - presented by Dave Hayden

-Berwick Manor will be cantering the event. The cost of the meals will be $16 a person.

-Since this is a weekend event a fee of $288 will be assessed by the Longaberger Alumni House.

-The event will be limited to 40 people so please RSVP by April 26th.

-This year 15 students were interviewed. The candidates were highly qualified making the decision very difficult. Seven students were awarded scholarships.

-One student will be awarded $2000 and the remainder will receive $1250 each.

-Kristy West will be the guest speaker.

-The banquet will be May 2nd at the Longaberger Alumni House from 1-3:00 p.m.

Distinguished Alumni- presented by Kristy Mount

-The nomination form was included in the newsletter. At this moment, we have not received any nominations.

Stadium Event- presented Kristy Mount on behalf of Julie Atchison

-A stadium tour was planned for May 8th. This event may move to a later date and be combined with a Columbus Clippers baseball game along with a tour of the new Ohio Union.

Social Committee- presented by Paula Santa on behalf of Barbara Letcher

-A happy hour event is being planned for the night before the Miami game. This event will take place at Gresso’s located in German Village.

-Room rental would be $25, plus $90 for wait staff ($30 for 3 people x 3 hrs.).

-A budget of $500 was approved for this event. The budget includes the above fees, plus funds for appetizers.

Officer/Members- presented by Kristy Mount

-Julie Atchison has indicated that she will not be returning to the board next year.

-Paula Santa has agreed to serve as President.

-Kristy Mount has agreed to serve as V.P.

-Susan Kaczmarek has agreed to return as secretary

-Rita Woeste will return as treasurer unless someone else would like to take over as treasurer

-All other board members please think about whether or not you wish to return to the board.

Annual Meeting- presented by Rita Woeste

-Rita is looking into booking Morrill Tower for our event

-A budget of $1500 was approved for the annual meeting. This includes facility charge, as well as funds for an after game party.

-We are hoping that the budget can be paid internally through our endowment funds. However, due to a wording issue with our endowments, this may need to be paid up front using different funds.

-Bernie Savarese is being considered as the guest speaker for this event.

Treasurer’s Report-presented by Rita Woeste

-We have $2222 in our account at this moment.

Secretary’s Report- presented by Susan Kaczmarek

Minutes from the last meeting were passed as written.

Next meeting- Scholarship Banquet then care packages on 6/6/10.

·Open House at the Union before Spring Game – April 24 – 10 am to 1 pm – more details at www.ohiostatealumni.org

·Family Swim Day with the OSU Men’s and Women’s Swim team, Saturday, May 15 from 1:30 to 4:30 PM at the new McCorkle Swim Center – more details at www.ohiostatealumni.org

  1. Group tickets for OSU Baseball outings should contact Mike Johnson at 614-247-1984 or johnson.1661@osu.edu. Softball is free
  1. OSUAA Football lottery will be on-line May 3 – 28. You must have been current with dues as of March 1.
  1. Spring Football game is Saturday, April 24th.
  1. Buckeye Bash goes live on June 1 at 1 PM. We will be sponsoring a Bash at Wisconsin and Iowa only.
  1. Let me know if you would like an OSUAA representative at your Graduating Senior event.
  1. Craig will be distributing some important documents regarding the year- end report to the Presidents.
